Vegan food in Romanian supermarkets – 3 – Lidl

Whenever I travel to a new country after I quenched my curiosity about the tourist attractions and famous neighbourhoods, I pay a visit to the local market and supermarket. I always like to compare the products that the same supermarket chain is offering in different countries because besides the regular foods, you will also find local products. In Asia the common denominator is 7-eleven and in Europe usually Lidl.

A nice finding was the vegan pizza with a generous topping of spinach, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms.

Among my favourites were the frozen plum dumplings that you only have to boil for about 10 minutes.

You can find some home made vegan cakes – brownies with walnuts and carrot cake also with walnuts, but they’re nothing special.

There is only one type of coconut based yogurt with pineapple and ginger, strawberries and coffee flavoured, soya milk, some dark chocolate rice cakes, pretzels, biscuits and chips.

What I usually like to buy from Lidl are the small bags of nuts, seeds and dried fruits which are really tasty and much cheaper compared to other stores.
